FT470.14 I came up with this mod about a year ago and passed it around locally but I have yet to see it on packet so I thought I'd send it out. This mod will allow the 470 to recieve 118 to 200 Mhz. I have had two 470's and did the mod on both of them with no problem. To do the mod you will use the two meter band and you should turn off the 70 cm side to avoid confusion. Here goes: Two meter expanded RX MOD by Randy KC6MUS 1. turn on 470 2. press the vfo button to go into the vfo mode 3. enter 7400. the display should read 174.00 4. press the RPT button until the display shows a minus (-) offset 5. press the F/M button then the RPT button then enter 0000 6. turn the 470 off then back on. the display should read 174.00 7. press the REV button. the display should read 774.00 8. press the F/M button then the down arrow button to step thru the frequencies in one Mhz steps. Keep holding down the arrow key until the display reads 718.00. (Do not press the up arrow key or you will have to start over from step one!!) 9. wait until the (f) dissappers from the display then press the RPT button once. 10. press the REV button and the display should should read 118.00 11. store 118.00 in the (L)ower memory. To enter the 200 Mhz upper limit repeat steps 1 thru 7 then 1. press the F/M button then the down arrow button to step thru the frequencies in one Mhz steps. Keep holding down the arrow key until the display reads 200.00. (Do not press the up arrow key or you will have to start over from step one!!) 2. Store 200.00 in the (U)pper Memory You should be able to use the airband mod now. To do this simply tune the radio to the upper or lower memory channles and press the MR button. You will be able to scan up or down or enter the freq. you want directly on the keypad. The 470 has no AM mode so you will be recieving them in FM. Despite this the sound usually very clear. I ran a recieve test with a service monitor and found these upper and lower freqs. about the limit that the 470 can "hear". If you have any problems with the mod or would like to let me how you like it send me pacmail and the address below. KC6MUS@KE6LW.#NOCAL.CA.USA.NA 73 and have fun. Randy KC6MUS
