FT470.15 This is a push button mod to allow the Yaesu FT470 to receive from 400 to 500 MHz. All that is required is loading high and low frequencies into the L and U memories. Credit for these ideas goes to Darrel Sego, KM9S, and Kerry Holliday, WA6BJH. The radio will receive only, not transmit out of the 430 to 450 range. Start with the high end. Follow the steps in order: 1) Set the radio to the 70cm band and tune the A VFO to 450.00 MHz. 2) Push [F/M] and then [RPT]. 3) Enter 0000 with the keypad. 4) Turn the radio off and then back on. 5) Push [RPT] twice to see a + offset. 6) Push [REV] once. The radio should now display 1450.00 MHz. 7) Push the down arrow until the display reads 500.00. 8) Store this in memory U. Push [F/M] and turn the tuning knob until U shows in memory channel display. 9) To use the higher frequencies, go to memory U, push [MR]. 10) You can now tune from 500 to 430 MHz. To add the 400 to 430 frequencies, first do the 450 to 500 mod. Then: 1) Turn the radio off. 2) Turn the radio on and set the A VFO to 500.00 Simplex by copying U memory into the A VFO and setting no offset. 3) Push [RPT] once to display a - offset. 4) Push the push-to-talk switch 3 times. Display reads 100.00 MHz. 5) Tune the VFO to 400 MHz with the [F/M] key and the up arrow. 6) Store 400 MHz in memory L. Push [F/M] and turn the tuning knob until L shows in the memory channel display. 7) To use the lower frequencies, go to memory L, push [MR]. 8) You can now tune from 400 to 450 MHz. To undo these, simply store in-band frequencies in memories U and L. Be sure to set the repeater offset back to 5.00 MHz when finished.
