No. 268 02/23/93 15:09:44 From: Todd Collins To: All Users Subject: new licensee Message class: Public Message base: ham Hello from a newly licensed ham!! Listen for N2TUN on voice, and soon as I pull together the equipment you'll hopefully see me on packet!! I have the radio and the pc, and even a program, and a co-worker should be loaning me a Baycom tnc...any suggestions on tracking down a radio to tnc connector for a Radio Shack HTX 202 ? The ptt uses some sorta ground potential differential to key the radio from an external source (since I have no knowledge of how this works or what it is really called, I need help in a major fashion!! All I know fer sure is that the mic plug is the same as the ptt plug...and this is strange for me, though I understand alot of manufacturers are doing this..) I may be interested in becoming a member...we'll see if I can get off the ground...thanks in advance for all the help!! It outlines how to connect your RS HT for packet. I attempt to outline it here: Audio in -----------][--------*---- tip of Sub-mini plug 0.1 mfd I I PTT Line --------/\/\/\/\/----- 2200 ohms Audio in ------------------------------- tip of mini-plug (speaker) GROUND ------------------------------- ring of mini-plug I hope this helps. I believe this follows the Yeasu HT connect pattern for most packet tnc's. Ed N2RQO (can usually catch me on the N2HJD repeater (146.925, down 600) or the Canandaigua repeater on 146.820, also down 600.
