general coverage trans for the kenwood
ts-440s...............................

1-- remove the top and bottem cover....

2-- remove the five small round head
screws that secure the control boards
shield plate.........................

3-- remove the four flat head screws
that hold the face of the radio on...

4-- put somthing under the front of
the radio to hold it up off the bench.
or move the radio onto the edge of the
bench  ...

5-- gently tilt the front panel down
remove the shield plate.

6-- the control board (with all the
diodes and the carrier points adjustment
dip-swich) is now easily accesse.

7-- gently move wires and look for
diode d80 ( looking down on the rig
with the front facing you) the diode is
on the bottem left of the board....
cut it ....
now your trans is now un locked....

8-- replace plate and front panel
gently as not to pinch and wires....

9-- wile you in there , if you want
the rig to have 10 hz resolution,
cut diode d66....
that mode is listed in your manual..
